FED: ABC may axe coverage of Hopman Cup

CANBERRA, Feb 23 AAP - The ABC appears likely to axe its coverage of the Hopman Cup
tennis tournament because it is more focused on sports neglected by commercial networks.

ABC managing director Mark Scott has told a Senate estimates hearing in Canberra that
the broadcaster's commitment to covering the Perth event was under review.

Mr Scott said tennis received extensive media coverage in Australia and the ABC's focus
was on broadcasting events that the commercial networks largely ignored.
